Gather ‘Round the Table: Cooking & Crafting Series for Kids
All sessions are for kids in grades 2-5

Sweet, salty, sour, bitter or umami – can you tell the difference? In this series, kids will learn to distinguish among and experiment with these flavors.
Join us for one, two, or all three of the workshops. There will be a tasty take-home product each time…if it isn’t gobbled up on site!

The Five Basic Tastes & Apple Dipping
Wednesday, November 9 | 4-5 p.m.

After exploring different taste sensations, participants will get the opportunity to create their own snacks. Using an apple as a vessel, kids will apply both dips and toppings to several apple slices, vying to devise the most scrumptious flavor combinations.

Designer Graham Crackers
Wednesday, November 16 | 4-5 p.m.

It’s all about the presentation! Children will plan and sketch designs for their graham cracker masterpieces. A variety of toppings will provide different colors and flavors for the budding artists to utilize in their compositions. A discussion of taste combinations and an “art show” will conclude our session!

Hand-Churned Flavored Butter
Wednesday, November 23 | 4-5 p.m.

Just like the pioneers, participants will be making their own butter from scratch! Then each child will mix in some simple ingredients to create a delicious flavored butter of their choice. Taste-testing with some bread at the end might be the best part!
